At Aidchild, we are strongly committed to saving lives in the only way that anyone can: One-by-one. One-at-a-time. The Aidchild pilot site (located in the Kijjabwemi Village of Masaka, Uganda, East Africa) has been selected by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-in cooperation with the Ugandan government-to serve as a model of pediatric AIDS care for orphans continent-wide. Started in November 2000, the pilot site serves orphans with urgent medical and psychosocial needs. A second Aidchild site is now also operating in Mpigi, Uganda, while plans for others are underway through the AIDS Integrated Model District Programme(AIM), the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Aidchild Foundation.
