Evolving from the Atlantic Wind Test Site (AWTS) established in 1980 as Canada's National Wind Energy Laboratory, the Wind Energy Institute of Canada (WEICan) will become the cornerstone of Canada's wind energy Research & Development program. Located at North Cape, the northernmost tip of Prince Edward Island, Canada, with 300 degrees of exposure to the Gulf of St. Lawrence, WEICan offers one of the harshest environments available for the testing of wind technology. WEICan will support the development of wind power generation in Canada and wind energy related products and services for Canadian and export markets.
