The Appleton Library Foundation was founded in 1985 to promote excellence in public library service to the Appleton community. Unrestricted contributions to the Foundation from local businesses and individuals enhance tax dollars to provide library collections, programs and services that are on the cutting edge. Starting with an initial goal of a $1 million endowment, the Foundation currently has assets in excess of $1.9 million. Each year the Foundation provides grants to the library for library collections, programs, and computer technology. Public access to the Internet began with cooperative funding from the Foundation, the Outagamie Waupaca Library System, and the Appleton Public Library operating
