The Lawrence Police Department strives to provide the best service possible within the scope of existing resources. Additionally, we are poised and ready to face the challenges and opportunities ahead for the City of Lawrence. Our current authorized strength is 138 commissioned officers and 41 civilian (full-time and part-time). As we begin into the next century, we look forward to increased growth in our personnel, equipment and facilities. Our primary goal remains the same as it has for over a decade: being the Number One Police Organization. In the past there have been three officers who have fallen during the line of duty.
