Euroline Shipping Company was formed in Aberdeen in 1989 upon the demise of the National Dock Labour Board scheme in the United Kingdom. This scheme and its restrictive working practices had been largely responsible for the drift of business away from the UK's major historic trading ports around the country into much smaller satellite ports. The Euroline group very quickly realised that the ending of this scheme would mean refreshing new strategies could be implemented into the working regimes of the previously unionised ports.
