The Portland Athletic Club (PAC) is the first indoor tennis club in Maine, built in 1968 as Tennis of Maine. The six court tennis facility was expanded to nine courts in 1973 while remaining the state's leading tennis club under original owner Jim Wright. In 1986 Robert Fisk, Jr. bought the club and began an ambitious diversification and expansion of the club. While maintaining the tradition in tennis the club added Maine's first comprehensive fitness center, racquetball courts and a restaurant. A second expansion in 1994 increased the club to 82,000 Sq. Ft. with the addition of a multi-purpose center / gymnasium, kids center and a full service beauty salon and was renamed the Portland Athletic ( www.portlandathletic.com )
