Leith FM is a community radio station for Leith and North Edinburgh operated by Leith Community Mediaworks. We were first on-air under a Restricted Service Licence (RSL) for seven days in June 2003, covering the Leith Festival. Later the same year, an opportunity arose for Leith to become involved in a pilot local TV scheme, so Leith Community Mediaworks was formed as an organisation to formalise these activities for the benefit of the local community. Our next RSL was for fourteen days in June 2004, once again covering the Leith Festival. At this time we also began a consultation exercise with a view to applying for one of the new, full time community radio licences for the station. This application was submitted to Ofcom in late November ( www.leithfm.co.uk )
