The Maine Campus offers much to Orono readers, as well as to its staff. Writers build their clip files and courage to become editors. Other staff may gain experience in paginating, networking, photography and business management. The Campus allows journalism majors and other students the opportunity to learn newsroom operations first-hand to supplement the theories taught in classrooms. The online edition of The Maine Campus has been years in the making, with versions dying as quickly as they were created. This version is alive with the help of partner College Publisher, a company that helps college organizations, mostly newspapers, improve their online presence.
