Seven years later we provide comprehensive educational and job placement services to over 1000 low income adults and their families day and night in a 19,500 square foot building designed specificall to serve adult students, their families, and the community at large. The agency now serves over 28% men and growing. The current budget is 3.0 million with over 60 full and part time staff. Dorcas Place has five major programs: a Functional Literacy, a Workplace Literacy including our Career Academy Job Center, a Family Literacy Program including a federal Even Start Program, a College Preparatory Program in partnership with the Community College of Rhode Island, and a Learning Resource Center, our community academic drop-in center. All our programs are supported by case management.
