IES is an acknowledged center for new ideas and new information in science. Our focus has been on interaction and interdisciplinary, wherever possible. I am very proud of the accomplishments since 1983, including: I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to found IES I had the unique privilege of appointing the first Board of Trustees in 1993. It is a wonderful Board! We have built ~$90 million in endowment, including what the Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust is holding for us. I formed a faculty that now is in the top group of ecological researchers in the world, in terms of productivity and
