Developed by a team of cognitive scientists and software engineers at the University of California, Irvine, with major funding from the National Science Foundation, ALEKS is founded on ground-breaking research in cognitive psychology and applied mathematics. Using artificial intelligence, ALEKS assesses a student's current knowledge and delivers targeted instruction on the topics a student is ready to learn. ALEKS is available for over 20 academic subjects, ranging from basic math to financial accounting. It is available for individual student subscriptions at http://www.aleks.com. ALEKS is distributed for curriculum adoption by K-12 and higher education institutions by The McGraw-Hill Companies ( www.aleks.com )
