Selkirk College offers an Advanced Diploma in GIS. Students, benefit enormously from having their instructors actively engaged in both research and teaching, which makes the SGRC a leader in scientific scholarship and instructional practice. Selkirk is the only institution in the area that offers training using the latest ESRI desktop and server technology. As a typical project, the Selkirk Geospatial Research Centre is currently working with the Kootenay Spatial Data Partnership to develop better research practices to aid sustainable forest management. The partnership is a collaboration between industry, government agencies, and Selkirk College.
