Scotia Slate Products Ltd. operates a slate quarry in Hants County, Nova Scotia, Canada. The property, when initially scoped for the activity was a wooded lot that had been historically used to quarry slate in the early 1900's. The operation began in the spring of 1995 just to explore the possibilities and learn about slate. By the end of that season, formal research undertaken and a formal business plan was produced. In early 1996, the 80 acre parcel of land was purchased, the company was formed and marketing began. At this point, the operation consisted of a pick and shovel, some rented equipment, pure energy and shear determination.
