The company was founded on the idea of a digital panoramic camera. Said camera would have to cater to professional requirements and offer a viable digital alternative to existing, film-based solutions. The first working prototype was shown at Photokina in 1998. Motivated by the positive response, product development continued apace. The PanoCam digital panoramic camera made its professional field debut in the summer of 1999. Since then, it has been continually developed and sold all over the world. Establishing SpheronVR AG in February 2000 consolidated resources for pursuing further innovative developments, organising in-house production facilities and first-class customer ( www.spheron.com )
