The Kingdom Diamond Group is the result of an adventure that started around 20 years ago. The journey began in London when Kingdom’s founder, Craig Doherty worked for the Rolex Watch Company, dealing with some of the world's leading jewellery stores. From there he worked within the industry in New York, Geneva, back in London and finally home to Melbourne via Asia to start a new business; the Kingdom Diamond Group.
Kingdom employs industry leaders in the fields of accounting, law and trademark protection, business services, advertising, marketing, security and supply chain management.
The Kingdom Diamond Group is a model of the way we'll buy diamonds and fine jewellery in the future. Only it's not set in the future. It's now.
How Kingdom is different to a traditional jewellery store.
Traditional jewellers have many handicaps, some of which include the increasingly large investment required to set up and fit out a shop, staffing, considerable overheads and high street or shopping centre rental. And that is all before they purchase enough stock to make a visit to their store worthwhile.
The Kingdom Group is unique in that the company has not invested heavily at retail level and our warehouse stock is kept very manageable. The Group is also unique in that the company is debt-free. This has an added advantage in that it means we don't have to pay large amounts of interest or bank charges.
In many respects, The Kingdom Group has modeled itself on the famous diamond merchants of New York's 47th Street. This means 1. we buy our diamonds from the very best sources 2. we buy and manufacture only what we need, when we need it and 3. we don't hold huge quantities of product that could go out of fashion.
